POLARIS Raumflugzeuge GmbH develops innovative transportation systems that redefine access to space for payloads and passengers. We are continuing to expand our team and are looking to fill the position of Embedded Avionics Developer (m/f/d).
Your missionWe are seeking an Embedded Avionics Developer skilled in real‑time embedded systems, sensor drivers, and safety‑critical software for aviation platforms.
- Develop embedded avionics software and sensor drivers (I²C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet) in C/C++ on NuttX, Linux, and RTOS platforms
- Work with microprocessors, microcontrollers, SoCs; FPGA experience is a plus
- Integrate and optimize PX4 modules, including middleware and driver frameworks
- Implement interfaces for IMUs, magnetometers, barometers, GNSS, air data sensors, and other avionics peripherals
- Apply SIL concepts and support functional safety activities (requirements, verification, HARA)
- Ensure compliance with DO 178C, DO 254, and aviation regulatory standards
- Participate in SIL/HIL testing, including sensor in the loop validation
- Produce documentation: ICDs, safety cases, release notes, user manuals
- Use Git Hub/Git Lab for version control, CI/CD, and code reviews
- System/software architecture using Enterprise Architect (EA) (UML/SysML)
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or Embedded Engineering
- 5+ years in embedded or avionics software development
- Strong in C/C++, real time systems, and low level driver development
- Experience with NuttX, Linux, PX4, and embedded debugging tools
- Knowledge of DO 178C, DO 254, ISO 26262, and SIL processes
- Familiarity with avionics communication standards (ARINC 429/664/AFDX, CAN Aerospace) is a plus
- Experience with DOORS/Polarion, EA/UML/SysML, and scripting (Python/Power Shell)
- Strong communication skills; proactive and comfortable in cross functional teams
- Familiarity with flight simulation environments and navigation systems
- Scripting (Python/Power Shell) for automation
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross functional, global teams
