Our School, Our Mission – Mountain View Middle School

Mountain View Middle School is located in East Bremerton and serves 860 students in grades 6-8. The school is undergoing a transformation to create an environment where learning is intentional, relationships are rooted in trust, and every member contributes meaningfully to collective success. A shared commitment to clear academic and behavioral expectations guides all areas of the school. The community aims to be a cohesive team growing and achieving together.

As the team grows, we draw on the strengths of our learning community, within the school and in the broader community, to hold high expectations and provide relevant support so that excellence and equity are part of daily reality for all students and staff at Mountain View.

Principal of Mountain View Middle School

The primary purpose of this position is to lead and transform outcomes for all students by focusing on high levels of learning for all, family/community partnership, and high-leverage teaching and learning practices. Our principals lead school efforts aligned with the District strategic plan, including high expectations, continuous improvement, high support, and culturally responsive practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead through the development of systems—creating and monitoring systems and structures to accelerate student growth
  • Honor, strengthen, and develop current initiatives that are working for students and staff
  • Lead an environment that fosters high expectations for students, staff, and self
  • Ensure high levels of learning as a primary responsibility
  • Create a collaborative culture
  • Commit to the Bremerton community and actively engage in establishing relationships and partnerships; involve and welcome student, staff and community input in all aspects of the school’s operation
  • Be a good listener and communicator; be visible and well known by students and staff
  • Use AVID strategies that lead toward college and career readiness
  • Facilitate a culture of continuous improvement with a focus on results
  • Lead for inclusive access for all students, including those in special education and English learners
  • Work as part of a high-performing collaborative team
