JOB DESCRIPTION - TEACHER
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The classroom teacher will work collaboratively with other building staff members to develop and motivate each student toward an awareness and understanding of the subject matter and/or skills needed to develop into mature, well-rounded, responsible young adults. The teacher will establish a positive rapport with students and will encourage them to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for future success.
Reports to and evaluated by:
Building Principal or Designee
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide an optimum learning environment for all students
* Participate in, contribute to, and be supportive of group decisions and efforts
* Collaborate with staff and work in teams to provide instruction to students
* Employ a systematic instructional process designed to meet the needs of students in the classroom
* Engage in purposeful, deliberate planning for instruction
* Follow District and State guidelines for essential learning and instructional strategies
* Work cooperatively with administration and staff in problem-solving and group process activities
* Model lifelong learning, positive self-esteem, and respect for others
* Set and maintain high personal, professional, and instructional standards for self and students
* Adhere to the Washington Code of Professional Conduct
* Perform other related duties as required or requested
QUALIFICATIONS

* Strong classroom management skills
* Current Washington State Teaching Certificate
* Endorsement in or major or minor in the specific discipline
* Knowledge of child growth and development needs
