The Youth Development Program Leader provides essential care, instruction, and mentorship for children and youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years. This role includes supporting CY Program Assistants and ensuring individual needs are met through well-planned activities. Daily tasks are performed independently, with technical assistance from a supervisor when needed. Responsibilities cover various areas, including mentorship, curriculum development, environment management, supervision, communication, assessment, and compliance.
MentorshipSupports and guides the CY Program Assistant team. Collaborates with senior staff to offer training and professional development. Helps with the Standardized Module Training and assists in translating training into practical applications. Models effective behavior and techniques for engaging with children and youth.
Curriculum DevelopmentCreates and implements activities based on the individual needs of participants. Collaborates with the Training and Curriculum Specialist and CY Program Assistants to ensure activities cater to diverse developmental needs. Adjusts activities based on feedback from parents and assesses special requirements as needed.
Environment ManagementPrepares and maintains both indoor and outdoor activity areas to enhance learning and play experiences. Regularly reviews equipment and supplies, recommending replenishments and improvements as necessary.
Supervision and CareEnsures the safety and supervision of all program participants in line with Department of Defense policies. Accountable for the whereabouts of children and youth and supervises them during activities, including outings and special events.
Communication with Parents and StaffMaintains professional interactions with parents, fellow employees, and local personnel. Engages in meetings and conferences to discuss the progress and activities of participants.
Assessment and ComplianceObserves and documents the developmental progress of participants, utilizing insights to improve program activities. Assists with compliance to DoD regulations and standards, facilitating program certification and accreditation.
Additional ResponsibilitiesCollects and reports on program participation data, performing other related tasks as assigned. A comprehensive list of duties will be provided at the time of hire.
