Position Title:
Sociology for Professionals Instructor – Non‑Tenure‑Track Faculty Vacancy Pool.
Position Summary:
The Sociology Department maintains a vacancy pool for qualified individuals interested in temporary teaching for the Western on the Peninsula Sociology for Professionals program at the Olympic College locations in Bremerton and Poulsbo, WA. Applications are accepted continuously for temporary, part‑time non‑tenure track teaching positions with occasional opportunities for temporary full‑time appointments. Positions may become available at any time and are typically filled on a quarterly basis.
Responsibilities
• Guide and inspire students in professional development, program evaluation, and applied sociological theory.
• Design and deliver engaging, challenging course content.
• Provide constructive feedback on coursework and examinations.
• Hold regularly scheduled office hours in accordance with department policy.
• Solicit and utilize student course evaluations, making the data available to department chairs and faculty for annual review.
- MA in Sociology or a closely related social science field.
- Demonstrated potential for excellent teaching in sociology.
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to cultivating equitable and inclusive learning environments for students with diverse social identities and backgrounds.
- Ph.D. or ABD in Sociology or a closely related discipline.
- Successful prior teaching experience.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Evidence of scholarship.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
