Geography Adjunct Faculty

Essential Functions- Prepare and teach developmental and/or college-level Geography course(s)
- Provide high quality, enthusiastic instruction including related preparation and grading
- Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office as requested
- Maintain accurate records of students and complete forms and records as required
- Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate evening instruction
- May include teaching at the Bremerton, Poulsbo, and Shelton Campuses
- Maintain clear and punctual communication with students, faculty, and staff
- Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Geography required
- Related Master’s degree with substantial graduate-level Geography coursework may be considered
- Computer skills including Microsoft applications
Desired Qualifications
- Successful experience teaching Geography at a College or University
- Experience with Learning Management System software such as Canvas
- Effectively teach and communicate several areas within the field of geography
- Demonstrate knowledge of alternative teaching methods, including the use of technology in instruction
- Demonstrate knowledge of practical applications of Geography
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in the classroom and with other professionals
- Collaborate successfully with colleagues, staff, and students as part of an educational team
- Effectively work with individuals that are disadvantaged and disabled
- Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural, geographic, and socio-economic backgrounds
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
- Possess excellent customer service skills, including building and maintaining internal/external customer satisfaction
- Demonstrate an appreciation of diversity and the benefits of a commitment to cultural awareness and sensitivity in the workplace

Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered. Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment. Final salary contract will be determined based on educational qualifications and applicable credits. This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis.
Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience.
Adjunct positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for a period of 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Applying does not guarantee that a position will be available or offered. Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits upon their initial hire;
adjunct faculty must work 50 percent of a full-time load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible.
