We have been providing a safe, fun, and positive environment at our sites with trained and dedicated professional staff for more than 80 years.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Branch Manager and with direction from the Branch Manager, the Youth Development Professional will plan, implement, facilitate, and supervise activities and events in a specific program area. The role involves researching, testing, and modeling a variety of innovative programs that meet the diverse interests and needs of members, their parents, and the community. The professional will work with volunteers assigned to specific programs to ensure proper application, promote safety, and maintain the quality and appearance of the club.

Functions

/ Tasks
  • Create a safe environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes, promotes and stimulates program participation, and provides guidance and role modeling to members.
  • Coordinate assigned program services and cooperative learning activities for youth that are both fun and instructional.
  • Effectively plan, lead, monitor, and evaluate a variety of programs, services, and activities to ensure the safety of members and the quality of programs.
  • Supervise members in the program area and continually monitor and supervise their safety and behavior, maintaining a safe, positive atmosphere for all youth.
  • Provide positive behavior guidance that supports the developmental, social‑emotional, and physical needs of all members.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with members, their parents and/or guardians, supervisors, staff, and volunteers by communicating effectively.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 18 years of age;
    High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to comply with the drug‑free workplace policy.
  • Experience working directly with school‑aged youth and knowledge of youth development.
  • Knowledge of program planning/instruction, implementation, and assessment; ability to provide instruction, direction, coaching, and guidance.
  • Ability to implement and direct educational‑based activities for children of various ages and learning styles.
  • Experience in tutoring and mentoring children or youth, motivating, engaging, and managing behavioral challenges with peer mediation.
  • Strong work ethic: responsible, accountable, follow up, complete tasks, and meet deadlines in a professional manner with accuracy and on schedule; regular and predictable attendance.
  • Must be able to be active and on your feet for a minimum of five hours each day, adapt to changes in a highly energetic work environment, complete other essential functions of the position and other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment

To keep our staff safe we adhere to the CDC safety guidelines and maintain close communication with local health departments, program partners, and local school districts. The physical demands include: high energy level; comfort with multi‑faceted projects; excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to get along with diverse personalities at all times, displaying tact, maturity, and flexibility; good reasoning abilities and sound judgment;

speaking and writing skills; sight, hearing, being active and on your feet for a minimum of four hours; ability to work both indoors and outdoors, with possible adverse weather, noise, dust, pollen, insects, and contact with the public. Other duties may be assigned.
