Position Summary
Chemistry Adjunct faculty position. Salary: $1,000 per credit* (final salary contract determined based on qualifications and applicable credits). Classification:
Adjunct Faculty.
Reports to:
Dean of STEM.
Note:
This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future vacancies with a potential immediate need for the fall quarter.
- Teach college-level courses as per the college catalog, schedule of classes, course outlines, syllabi, and departmental guidelines.
- Prepare and grade coursework, maintain quality teaching standards.
- Provide class syllabi to enrolled students and to the division office as requested.
- Maintain accurate and complete course and student records in a professional and timely manner.
- Possibly conduct evening instruction.
- Communicate clearly and punctually with students, faculty, and staff.
- Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
- Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering from a nationally accredited institution.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Desired Qualifications
- Successful teaching experience in Chemistry at the college level.
- Impart excitement and enthusiasm toward course content and the educational experience.
- Utilize a variety of alternative teaching methods and modalities to engage diverse student populations, including technology in instruction.
- Incorporate learning management systems such as Canvas and/or Web-Enhanced.
- Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing diverse backgrounds, including military veterans.
- Understand accessibility and universal design, and provide special accommodations as needed.
- Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate and build rapport with colleagues, staff, and students.
- Demonstrate ethics, integrity, and sound professional judgment.
- No visa sponsorship; only candidates authorized to work in the United States will be considered.
- Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of employment.
- This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Salary will be commensurate with educational background and experience.
- Collective bargaining agreement exists; position covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE).
- Flexibility required to meet departmental needs, including evening and/or weekend classes, satellite campus instruction, and off-campus assignments with travel.

Adjuncts must work 50% of a full-time load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible; hours earned at other SBCTC colleges may count toward this requirement.
Conditions of Employment- Background check including criminal record history will be conducted prior to hire.
- Employment contingent on completion of Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form as required by WB HB 2327.
- Employee must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance of the campus to attend reporting requirements at the time of hiring; frequent travel to Olympic College campuses or other sites may occur.
