Adjunct Faculty – Nursing

Salary: $1,000 per credit. Classification:
Adjunct Faculty. Department:
Nursing.

Reports to:

Associate Dean of Nursing.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare and teach courses in the nursing program.
  • Provide class syllabi to students and to the division office as requested.
  • Maintain accurate records of students and complete required forms.
  • Prepare and deliver theoretical and clinical content reflecting the program’s philosophy and conceptual framework.
  • Determine appropriate clinical assignments for nursing students.
  • Provide clinical supervision and evaluation.
  • Document each student’s progress; collaborate with the student to develop a plan for success.
  • Attend clinical orientation and faculty meetings.
  • Participate in theory and clinical course evaluation, identifying strengths and areas for development.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Nursing on student and course issues.
  • Keep abreast of program policy and procedure changes.
  • Participate in nursing program academic assessment processes.
  • Facilitate scholarly activities.
  • Establish and maintain relations with internal and external constituencies.
  • Participate in maintaining accreditation standards for the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Collaborate with peers and the Associate Dean of Nursing.
  • Integrate simulation into theory and clinical courses.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Current unencumbered RN license in Washington State or ability to obtain one prior to employment.
  • Basic computer competency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing program with 3 or more years of clinical experience in a specialty area may be considered in lieu of a Master’s. High‑demand specialties include obstetrics, pediatrics, and mental health.
Desired Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Nursing or Education from an accredited institution.
  • Previous teaching experience in a nursing program.

  • Engage in lifelong learning activities and disseminate information through publications, presentations, and advocacy.
  • Model the use of nursing informatics and information literacy.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Provide high‑quality customer service, building satisfaction among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate appreciation for diversity and commitment to cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Additional Information
  • Faculty must submit official, unopened transcripts to Human Resources within 30 days of employment.
  • Salary contract will be determined by educational qualifications and applicable credits.
  • Position is contracted on a quarterly basis, with placement on the faculty salary schedule commensurate with educational background and experience.
  • Salary is a per‑quarter range.
  • The role is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE) collective bargaining agreement.
  • Flexibility is required; evening, weekend, satellite campus, and off‑campus clinical assignments including travel may be part of the instructional load.
