Salary: $1,000 per credit

Olympic College’s Music program offers private individual instruction in a variety of instruments as well as for vocal. The Music program provides space for individualized instruction, as well as for students to practice and perform. Faculty may provide lessons using distance learning tools such as Zoom and/or Skype. Adjunct faculty are employed in brass instruments, wind/reed instruments, guitar, bass guitar, strings, piano, and voice.
Instruction may be provided through modalities including Canvas, Zoom, Skype, and other online resources, in addition to face-to-face instruction. Olympic College is recruiting an adjunct faculty member to join the Social Sciences & Humanities Division. This is a part-time Private Music Adjunct position, teaching primarily private trumpet lessons.
- Teach evening, distance, and in-person classes on the Bremerton campus and other campuses when requested.
- Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and record keeping.
- Provide class syllabi/guidelines to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested.
- Identify individual learning needs of students and adjust the learning environment and activities to meet those needs.
- Punctually communicate with students, faculty, staff and administrators.
- Hold regularly scheduled private lessons for the schedule span of time enrolled (1/2 credit = 1/2 hr/week; 1 credit = 1 hr/week).
- Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
- Deliver instructional course content with enthusiasm and energy.
- Use a variety of methods and modes of instruction to support student success.
- Demonstrate a commitment to teaching students with varying backgrounds and needs.
- Utilize diverse assessment activities to evaluate student learning and achievement.
- Demonstrate success working with individuals from diverse cultural, socio-economic backgrounds, and military veterans.

- Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience in teaching or mentoring music students, specifically in the area of instruction
- Desired Qualifications
- Master's Degree in area of instruction
- Two years of private lesson teaching experience (at the audit level)
- Ability to play and teach in both classical and jazz styles
- Ability to teach lessons on other brass instruments (high brass and/or low brass)

- Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of employment.
- Final salary contract will be determined based on educational qualifications and applicable credits.
- This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Salary placement is commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary listed is per quarter and may be affected by the collective bargaining agreement with the Association for Higher Education (AHE).
- Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and travel to clinical sites may be part of the instructional load.
