This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future vacancies. Individuals will be contacted as vacancies occur.

Olympic College is continuously recruiting adjunct faculty to teach courses in History.
Candidates must be available to teach in person on the Bremerton campus. We seek applicants who are dedicated to student-centered learning, closing achievement gaps, supporting diversity and social justice learning opportunities, and who employ data-informed decision-making in their instruction.

Part-time positions are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Applicants are considered active for 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Employing does not guarantee a position will be available or offered.
Candidates who are only available to teach online will not be considered.

Essential Functions
  • Teach in-person classes on the Bremerton campus and distance classes as needed.
  • Teach college-level courses in accordance with the college catalog, schedule of classes, course outlines, syllabi, and departmental guidelines.
  • Provide quality teaching, including preparation and grading.
  • Provide class syllabi to students and to the division office as requested.
  • Maintain accurate student records and complete required forms.
  • May include evening instruction and/or instruction at satellite campuses.
  • Punctual communication with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in History from an accredited college or university.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Ability to teach U.S. History and/or World History courses.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

  • Commitment to teaching students with varied backgrounds and to furthering experienced students’ careers.
  • Success in incorporating accessibility and special‑needs accommodations into course materials and activities.
  • Effective communication in oral and written form, collegial collaboration with colleagues, staff, and students.
  • Incorporation of technology and learning management systems into course delivery.
  • Appreciation of diversity and cultural awareness in the workplace.

Employment Conditions

  • Must reside in Washington State and within reasonable distance of the campus.
  • Frequent travel to Olympic College campuses or other sites may occur.
  • Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits upon initial hire; must work 50% of a full‑time load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible.
  • Additional hours earned at other SBCTC colleges may count toward this requirement.
