Math Tutor
Salary: $19.50 - $25.96 hourly (subject to change).
Classification:
Mathematics.
Location:
Bremerton (Main) Campus.
Reports to:
Director of Tutoring.
Part‑time position—up to 18 hours per week on a rolling basis.
Responsibilities- Assist students in analyzing assignments and assigned readings.
- Assist students in interpreting and understanding mathematical concepts.
- Assist students in developing critical thinking and mathematical communication skills.
- Assist students in developing effective study habits and skills.
- Assist students working in an online format.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
- Reference from an instructor or professor if you are a current Olympic College student.
- High School Graduate, Equivalent, or Current Running Start Student.
- Completion of MATH 141 (or equivalent) with a decimal grade of 3.5 or higher.
- Basic computer competency.
- College teaching or previous tutoring experience preferred.
- Completion of Math 141, Math 142, Math 151, Math 152, and Math 163 or equivalent courses with grades of 3.5 or higher.
- Demonstrate excellence in Mathematics.
- Follow campus regulations and applicable laws.
- Work various hours.
- Work successfully in a high‑attendance, high‑volume study center.
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Be adaptable and flexible.
- Possess excellent customer‑service skills, including building and maintaining internal/external customer satisfaction.

Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six‑month period to become eligible for health benefits, and 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years for retirement eligibility. Other benefits may include deferred compensation, supplemental retirement savings plans, sick leave, paid holidays, Aflac, tuition waiver, Employee Assistance Program, fitness center access, reduced‑rate childcare, etc.
Conditions of Employment- Background check including criminal record history.
- Completion of Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form as required by WB HB 2327.
- Must reside in Washington State and within reasonable distance of campus.
- Frequent travel to Olympic College campuses or other sites may occur.
