This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future vacancies. Individuals will be contacted as vacancies occur. Olympic College is recruiting for Physics Adjunct Faculty to teach introductory and advanced Physics, part‑time at all of its campuses. The position reports to the Dean of Mathematics, Engineering, Science, and Health (MESH). Part‑time positions are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter‑by‑quarter basis.

Reports to:

- Prepare and teach developmental and/or college‑level Physics course(s)
- Provide high quality, enthusiastic instruction including related preparation and grading
- Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office as requested
- Maintain accurate records of students and complete required forms and records
- Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate evening instruction
- May include teaching at the Bremerton, Poulsbo, and Shelton campuses
- Maintain clear and punctual communication with students, faculty, and staff
- Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required
- Master’s degree in Physics required
- Related Master’s degree with substantial graduate‑level Physics coursework may be considered
- Computer skills including Microsoft applications
- Successful experience teaching Physics at a college or university
- Experience with Learning Management System software such as Canvas
- Effectively teach and communicate several areas within the field of Physics
- Demonstrate knowledge of alternative teaching methods, including the use of technology in instruction
- Demonstrate knowledge of practical applications of Physics
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in the classroom and with other professionals
- Collaborate successfully with colleagues, staff, and students as part of an educational team
- Effectively work with individuals that are disadvantaged and disabled
- Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural, geographic, and socio‑economic backgrounds
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
- Possess excellent customer service skills, including building and maintaining internal/external customer satisfaction
- Demonstrate an appreciation of diversity and the benefits of a commitment to cultural awareness and sensitivity in the workplace
- Demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to the Olympic College mission, vision, and values
- Demonstrate ethics, integrity, and sound professional judgement
Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position. In addition to the background check, candidates will be required to complete the Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form as required by WB HB 2327.
The employee must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance of the campus to respond to workplace reporting requirements at the time of hiring. Frequent travel to Olympic College campuses or other sites may occur.
