Private Music Lesson Adjunct - Orchestral Strings
Salary: $1,000 per credit*

Reports to: Dean of SSH
Olympic College’s Music program offers private individual instruction in a variety of instruments and vocal, utilizing distance learning via Zoom and/or Skype as well as face‑to‑face instruction. Adjunct faculty teach in brass, wind/reed, guitar, bass guitar, strings, piano, and voice, and will provide private lessons primarily on violin, viola, cello, or bass.
Essential Functions- Teach evening, distance, and in‑person classes on the Bremerton and other campuses when requested.
- Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and record keeping.
- Provide class syllabi/guidelines to students by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested.
- Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities to meet those needs.
- Communicate punctually with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Hold regularly scheduled private lessons for students for the duration of their enrollment (½ credit = ½ hr/week; 1 credit = 1 hr/week).
- Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Experience in teaching or mentoring music students, specifically in the area of desired instruction.
- Master’s Degree in area of instruction.
- Two years of teaching experience of private lessons at the audit level.
- Ability to play and teach in both classical and jazz styles on upright bass, and ability to teach technique on violin, viola, and/or cello.
