This position is 7.5 hours/day with 183 base contract days (180 student days + 3 Professional Development days) and 3 supplemental days.
Upon hire, the teacher will be required to attend up to five days of paid training during the week of August 17th.
The Intensive Behavior Program Teacher provides specialized instruction and behavioral support for students whose social, emotional, and behavioral needs significantly impact their access to the educational environment. The teacher is responsible for creating a safe, structured, and supportive classroom that promotes academic growth, skill development, self-regulation, and increased participation in inclusive educational settings.
This position works collaboratively with Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), para educators, related service providers, general education staff, and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to implement individualized educational and behavioral programming. The teacher plays a critical role in developing opportunities for students to access grade-level curriculum and supported inclusion experiences within the general education environment whenever appropriate.

The classroom teacher will work collaboratively with other building staff members to develop and motivate each student toward an awareness and understanding of the subject matter and/or skills needed to develop into mature, well‑rounded, responsible young adults. The teacher will establish positive rapport with students and will encourage them to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed for future success.

- Perform other related duties as required or requested
- Current Washington State Special Education Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement – Early Childhood Endorsement Preferred

- Knowledge of Common Core State Standards, a variety of assessment tools, RTI, and the CEL 5D+ Instructional Framework preferred
- Sensitive to and skilled in working with a diverse population

- Skilled in relating well to students, parents, staff, and community
- Genuine desire to work with all students
- Evidence of successful experience in working with students at appropriate grade level and in subject area
- Knowledge of child growth and development needs
