This position is 3.75 hours/day with 183 base contract days (180 student days + 3 Professional Development days) and 3 supplemental days.
Upon hire, the teacher will be required to attend up to five days of paid training during the week of August 17th.

JOB DESCRIPTION - PRESCHOOL TEACHER
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Each special education teacher works with a team of professionals to design, implement and evaluate services to children with disabilities. The special education teacher provides direct services to children. In addition to the responsibilities of all elementary classroom teachers, such as availability at school during required school hours, attending staff meetings and professional development, participating in open house, the special education teacher is responsible for all special education policies, rules and regulations pertaining to special education children and their families.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Team design, implement, evaluate and revise special education instruction to students.
- Screen and evaluate preschool children.
- Co-design classroom activities that meet the needs of preschool children with disabilities within the context of a typical classroom.
- Gather and utilize student assessment data.
- Participate in a professional learning community (team with parents, OT/PT, SLP, and Psychologist).
- Supervise instructional assistants.
- Teach the district-adopted early literacy curriculum.
- Consult with families and plan parent meetings.
- Develop, implement, monitor IEPs and collect data in all developmental areas.
- Maintain confidential student records and phone logs with family, professionals, and other agencies.
- Participate in once month ECCE trainings and all special education trainings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess current, valid Washington State Teaching Certificate to teach early childhood Special Education Endorsement.
- Experience teaching preschool children preferred.
- Demonstrate knowledge of research-based instructional practices to use with children with and without disabilities preferred.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Washington State early learning Benchmarks aligned with K-3 standards-based instruction preferred.
