Childcare Preschool Teacher
The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Childcare Preschool Teacher to join our team. The YMCA focuses on empowering people in all forms, by improving health and well-being and inspiring action in and across our neighborhoods. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
As a Childcare Preschool Teacher, you will be responsible for supporting the Lead Teacher at the YMCA Childcare Preschool year-round to serve our community with a variety of activity options to explore and develop the talents of youth so that children have fun, grow, and thrive in our care. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in planning the educational programs and assist with the daily implementation of the daily classroom curriculum.
- Prepare and organize the classroom and classroom materials in accordance with the planned classroom curriculum.
- Assist with maintaining site and equipment, including properly implementing proper cleaning procedures and upkeep of equipment and facility.
- Attend and participate in family nights and program activities as applicable and agreed upon.
- Maintain positive public relations with members and always represent the best interests of the YMCA.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
- Engage children at all times and maintain program/site in compliance with state licensing standards.
- Treat every participant fairly and equally regardless of circumstances and abilities, making each feel good about themselves and encouraging a fun environment.
- Greet all parents to establish a friendly rapport.
- Communicate effectively with Lead Teacher, Assistant Director, and Program Directors.
- Support Lead Teacher in the implementation of curriculum providing an integrated, child centered and comprehensive curriculum and multicultural environment, which meets the needs of every child, including those with disabilities.
- Assist staff leadership team in reaching campaign goals through recruiting campaigners, making personal asks and supporting branch events.

Are you a good fit?
- Minimum of 18 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Have or are willing to obtain a Washington State Initial stackable certification (Must enroll upon hire).
- A desire to have fun, engage with children and inspire creativity!
- A love for working with children.
- A minimum of one-year experience working with children in a child care setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of birth to school-aged child development is preferred.
- Previous experience with diverse populations.
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
- Sensitivity to the needs of families including adults and children.
- Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day. Complete other online and in-person training as required.
- Possesses (or is willing to possess prior to hire): CPR, First Aid, TB Test, Food Handler's Card, Childcare Basic STARS, proof of MMR vaccine, Merit account.
- Able and willing to complete a Department of Children, Youth, and Families Portable Background Check.
- Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

Wage: $18.03- $18.63 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)
Hours: Part-Time up to 25 hours per week
Location: Central Kitsap School District, Bremerton, WA
