Olympic College is continuously seeking skilled Basic Studies adjunct faculty to fill positions within the Integrated Basic Education & Skills Training (I-BEST) Adjunct Faculty. Our identified I-BEST programs are designed to be team-taught by professional technical and basic skills facilities. I-BEST faculty are responsible for team-taught instruction. Classes are comprised of students that come from diverse educational, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds;

therefore, faculty must be prepared to teach college readiness skills to all I-BEST students. This position will report to the Associate Dean of Basic Studies/Adult Education and as part of the Workforce Development Division. The work may vary between the Bremerton, Shelton, or Poulsbo Campuses.

Part-time positions at the college are open continuous, and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for a period of 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Essential Functions
  • Team-teach with a group of professional-technical instructors in the one of the following areas with an I-BEST classroom and laboratory settings (e.g. Manufacturing, Nursing Assistant Certified, Computer Information Systems, Business Technology) that supports students in math and basic skill areas as needed.
  • Administer Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) Appraisal, Pre-tests, and Post-tests, and collect, submit, and analyze data for program reporting in Web-based Adult Basic Education Reporting System (WABERS).
  • Collaborate with other instructors in developing courses and curricula.
  • Manage record keeping complying with federal and state requirements.
  • Consult with students as needed and assist all students in setting, documenting and monitoring progress toward meaningful personal and educational goals.
  • Provide quality teaching including related preparation and grading.
  • Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office as requested.
  • Maintain accurate records of students and complete forms as required.
  • May require evening instruction.
  • Attend quarterly or more frequently, Basic Studies meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University in adult / developmental education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) year's Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) experience teaching adults.
  • Basic Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Applications.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited College or University in adult / developmental education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics.
  • Two (2) year's Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) teaching experience in a community college setting.
  • Experience implementing Basic Skills requirements of the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, e.g., Washington Adult Learning Standards, CCRS familiarity.
