Position Overview
Tutor – Poulsbo Campus. Salary: $19.50 – $25.96 per hour. Classification:
Instruction & Classroom Support Tech.
Location:
Poulsbo Campus.
Reports to:
Director of Tutoring. This role is part of an ongoing applicant pool for future teaching support positions in non‑stem subject areas such as Biology, Chemistry, Composition, Engineering, English, Languages, Mathematics, and Writing. Part‑time up to 18 hours per week.
- Provide academic support to students in one or more non‑stem subject areas.
- Assist students in analyzing assignments and assigned readings.
- Help students interpret discipline‑specific problems and situations.
- Clarify critical thinking and communication skills.
- Support students working in an online format.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- High school graduate, equivalent, or current Running Start student.
- Reference from an instructor or professor (if currently a student at Olympic College).
- Completed the course(s) to be tutored with an average decimal grade of 3.5 or higher.
- Basic computer competency.
- Demonstrated excellence in the tutoring subject area.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work various hours in a high‑attendance, high‑volume study center.
- Adaptability, flexibility, ethics, integrity, and sound professional judgment.
- Commitment to Olympic College mission, vision, and values; appreciation for diversity and cultural awareness.
- Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six‑month period to be eligible for health benefits. Eligibility for retirement requires 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years.
