Olympic College is currently recruiting for a Program Specialist 2 - SGOC. This role administers student leadership, governance, and engagement programs that foster student involvement, leadership development, belonging, and student success. The position coordinates the daily operations of Student Government (SGOC), Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), student organizations, and the food pantry, while providing operational, budgetary, and programmatic support to the department.
Through advising student leaders, administering programs and budgets, coordinating campus-wide events, and ensuring compliance with College policies and applicable regulations, this position strengthens student engagement and contributes to a vibrant, inclusive campus community that supports student persistence and achievement.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate student employees of the SGOC, Student Senate, and tenure committee in collaboration with the Director of Student Leadership & Engagement.
- Conduct regular coaching meetings and quarterly performance evaluations for SGOC and Student Senate student employees.
- Identify operational, funding, compliance, and student engagement issues affecting student programs, SGOC, and student-funded clubs, and provide recommendations to the Director of Student Leadership & Engagement.
- Facilitate the daily operations of the college’s food pantry and related basic-needs programs to ensure inventory is maintained and operations run smoothly, identifying any improvements or needs to the Director of Student Leadership and Engagement.
- Collaborate with the Director of Student Leadership & Engagement and Mentorship & Intercultural Exchange Center’s Program Specialist 2 to support Student Leadership & Engagement programs, leadership development activities, and annual campus events, including Welcome Week, Town Halls, Student Awards, leadership retreats, and other department-sponsored activities.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and complete required travel authorization and reimbursement documentation for SGOC, PTK, student clubs, conferences, and leadership activities.
- Serve as initial point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and community members regarding Student Leadership & Engagement programs, SGOC, PTK, and student organizations, identifying their needs, resolving, and/or routing more complex issues to the Director of Student Leadership and engagement.
- Monitor compliance, coordinate training with the Director of Student Leadership & Engagement to train student leaders on any updates to College policies, Services & Activities Fee regulations, Washington State requirements, and institutional procedures regarding local, state, and federal governmental processes. Civic engagement, advocacy, and legislative initiatives affecting higher education.
- Advise student club officers and faculty/staff advisors regarding College policies, financial procedures, event planning, travel, risk management, and club operations.
- Coordinate with the Director of Student Leadership & Engagement to augment and deliver to SGOC officers and Student Senators on Robert's Rules of Order, Killian's Parliamentary Procedure, shared governance, leadership development, and College policies and procedures.
