Koniag Operations Services, LLC a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Program Specialist to provide comprehensive support across a variety of SOH programs in a Navy environment. The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable safety professional with strong data management and communication skills, capable of working independently with creativity and latitude to plan and accomplish program goals.
This position supports critical safety operations and interfaces directly with workforce personnel and leadership.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
The Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Program Specialist will provide broad programmatic support across multiple SOH disciplines, ensuring compliance with Navy policy and OSHA requirements while serving as a key point of contact for safety-related inquiries. Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Provide day-to-day support for various Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) programs in accordance with local directives, Navy policy, and OSHA requirements.
- Receive, compile, and track data for SOH programs and generate reports as required by local directives and leadership.
- Obtain, review, record, and report workplace mishaps in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with Navy policy and applicable OSHA requirements.
- Receive and respond to customer and workforce inquiries on a wide range of SOH topics, providing accurate and helpful guidance.
- Maintain and update the Safety intranet webpage(s) to ensure current, accessible, and accurate safety information is available to all personnel.
- Interface with one or more computer-based systems of record to manage and track SOH program data and documentation.
- Perform a variety of tasks, relying on experience, training, and professional judgment to plan and accomplish goals with a degree of creativity and latitude.
- Support continuous improvement of SOH programs through data analysis, trend identification, and proactive reporting to leadership.
- Assist in the coordination and execution of safety training, inspections, and program audits as needed.
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Exceptional knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the safety and occupational health field is required.
- Must have completed, or must complete within 60 days of assignment, the following Navy courses or their equivalent:
- General Industry Standards (Navy Course A-493-0061)
- Mishap Investigation (Navy Course A-493-0078)
Desired:
- Associate's degree with at least 6–8 years of experience in safety and occupational health or a closely related field (e.g., industrial hygiene), OR a Bachelor's degree with at least 2–4 years of equivalent experience.
- Completion of the following Navy courses or their equivalent:
- Introduction to HAZMAT Ashore Global On Line (Navy Course A-493-0331)
- Electrical Safety Standards (Navy Course A-493-0033)
- Fire Protection and Life Safety (Navy Course A-493-0075)
- Machinery and Machine Guarding (Navy Course A-493-0073)
Required Skills and
Competencies:
- Exceptional working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the safety and occupational health field.
- Strong understanding of Navy safety policy and OSHA requirements as they relate to workplace mishap reporting and SOH program management.
- Proficiency in receiving, compiling, tracking, and reporting safety program data in accordance with local directives and organizational requirements.
