Location:
Bremerton, WA What You'll Be Doing:
Conducts annual vessel and facility for Workplace Safety/Hazard Inspections . Conducts daily waterfront inspections for safety and environmental hazards . Conducts hot work inspections; and safety inspections of oil, hazmat, ballast and rainwater pumping operations . Conducts safety and environmental inspections of asbestos and preservation operations . Conducts atmospheric testing for safe personnel entry and hot work in enclosed and confined spaces .
Identifies , collects and performs sampling and analysis of hazardous materials and waste such as oil, oily water, asbestos, PCBs, lead and mercury . Conducts heat stress monitoring and noise surveys. Major Activities Performed:
* Responsible for the facility's hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage and disposal, including operating the Hazardous Waste Accumulation Area .
* Responsible for pre-designation of waste (via PSNS) prior to generation and disposal . Responsible for requesting pre-authorization via PSNS for Global's hazardous materials and maintenance of the Contractor's Hazardous Material Inventory (CHMI) .
* Prepares various monthly reports, including hazardous waste and hazardous material usage, solid waste disposal, and marine coating usage . Prepares reports of safety inspections and discrepancies. Assist with preparation and at times conduct monthly and annual training for all departments.
* May be required to travel up to 25%.
* Adhere to all Corporate CORE values, policies, and procedures in the execution of all responsibilities.
* Must be able to work effectively with co-workers in a professional manner at all times .
* Must maintain strong awareness posture at all times to conduct continuous safety oversight.
* Must establish credibility with workforce to effectively offer safety advice and solutions whenever possible .
* Must have technical proficiency and computer skills - Utilize Teams, Microsoft Word, Office, PowerPoint, and Excel to complete administrative tasks efficiently. What You'll Need to Succeed:
Minimum Qualifications :
* Shipyard Competent Person (gas-free) certification . Certified Asbestos Worker with current Washington State license .
* AHERA Building Inspector Certification .
* 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification .
* HWAA Operator (HW49) qualified.
* Must have a valid state driver's license and be eligible to operate company/government vehicles. Must be medically qualified and able to wear a negative pressure respirator.
* Must have the skills and knowledge required under 29 CFR 1915.7 Competent person criteria: ability to understand and carry out instructions from a Marine Chemist; knowledge of 29 CFR 1915 Subparts B, C, D & H; knowledge of the structure, location and designation of spaces where work is done; the ability to calibrate and use testing equipment; the ability to perform all tests and inspections;
ability to inspect, test and evaluate spaces to determine the need for testing by Marine Chemist.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Certified Asbestos Supervisor with current Washington State license. Certified Lead Supervisor with current Washington State license.…
