Position: Engineering Program Manager - Newport, RI with Security Clearance

This Engineering Program Manager position will be on a dynamic team responsible for engineering support, maintenance management and life cycle support of autonomous underwater vehicles for our customer in the Newport, Rhode Island area. Serco supports the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC), including support for the design, acquisition, testing and sustainment of naval undersea warfare systems. You will be leading a team that works closely with the customer to deliver management, engineering, acquisition, and logistics support required to conduct system upgrades, maintenance, and sustainment in support of autonomous underwater vehicles. Serco has been supporting the Naval Sea Systems Command for over 50 years and has been recognized by the Navy for their outstanding contributions.

* An active or current DoD Secret clearance is required prior to starting. In this position, you will:
* Act as Senior Technical Representative and Program Manager in the planning, direction and success of major projects, systems development efforts, and research or technology initiatives which have great significance to NUWC' Autonomous Maritime Systems Test Center (AMSTC). Programs are typically large, multi-year efforts divided into several sub-programs/tasks.
* Lead engineers in the application of the theories and principles of science and mathematics to research and develop economical solutions to technical problems.
* Design products, machinery, implement improved ways to extract, process, and use new materials to improve the performance of naval systems and take advantage of advances in technology.
* Analyze the impact of the products they develop or the systems they design on the environment and on the people using them.
* Support the testing, production, or maintenance by supervising production, determining the causes of breakdowns, and the testing of manufactured products to maintain quality.
* Estimate the time and cost to complete projects.
* Support the maintenance and upkeep of systems, write performance requirements, and develop maintenance schedules.
* Test equipment, solve operating problems, and estimate the time and cost of engineering projects.
* Collect technical data from appropriate documentation (e.g., technical manuals and internal and external reports), automated files, and other staff.
* Determine and interpret equipment characteristics data, performs necessary analysis, and transcribes to required formats.
* Assist staff in moderately technical aspects of project work.
* Acquire a working knowledge of customer databases and of the types of information stored in each file.
* Assist in the training of less experienced staff.
* Assist in the preparation of appropriate technical documentation.
* As required, verbally present information at project review sessions and in informal interface with customers.
* Comply with security procedures in the performance of duties. To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Bachelor's Degree and eight years of professional experience in an engineering capacity.
* An active or current DoD Secret clearance.
* Experience in the operation, management and sustainment of submarines
* Ability to communicate effectively.
* Proficiency in technical writing.
* Proficiency with MS-Office software to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Power Point.
* Ability to travel up to 10% Additional desired experience and skills:
* Active-Duty experience in the USN submarine service is a plus.
* Master's degree in any Engineering Discipline or Navy Nuclear Engineer Qualified is preferred.
