This isn't your typical engineering technician position. As you grow into the Senior Engineering Technician role, you'll serve as the primary technical liaison between the County Sewer Utility and the community, wielding significant independent judgment in complex decisions that affect development projects across Kitsap County.

Your responsibilities will evolve from learning and supporting permit administration and technical design review to managing the full lifecycle of sanitary sewer connections and extensions. You'll apply advanced knowledge of civil engineering principles while influencing how residential and commercial developments connect to critical county infrastructure, making you an essential bridge between regulatory compliance and practical implementation.

• Learn to administer sewer ordinances, process connection permits, and ensure compliance with county and state regulations.
• Participate in preconstruction meetings, represent the Utility, and coordinate reviews of developer submittals to ensure standards are met.
• Develop skills in reviewing engineering and architectural plans, including sewer lines, manholes, grease interceptors, and pump stations.
• Perform calculations, quantity take‑offs, and prepare sewer connection fee estimates.
• Collaborate with GIS technicians to maintain accurate utility asset records for development projects.
• Work with permit technicians to maintain technical records and electronic document systems with precision.
• Provide guidance on permit policies, procedures, and code requirements, serving as a resource for stakeholders.

• Administer and review sanitary sewer system designs for residential and commercial development projects, including individual connections, and manage the complete permit process with connection fee establishment.
• Serve as the technical lead reviewer for development submittals, ensuring all proposed sewer connections and extensions meet county, state, and federal codes and standards.
• Review complex engineering plans, profiles, specifications, and technical details for sanitary sewer lines, manholes, grease interceptors, and pump stations.
