Position Overview
The Project Engineer provides senior-level engineering leadership and technical expertise in support of the Commander, Naval Air Forces (CNAF) Aircraft Carrier Readiness Support (ACRS) mission. This position supports the CNAF CVN Readiness Operations Center (ROC) and associated Maintenance, Material, and Readiness Departments to ensure aircraft carriers are fully mission capable across all phases of the Optimized Fleet Response Plan (OFRP) and Global Maritime Response Plan (GMRP).
The Project Engineer applies advanced knowledge of marine electrical, electronic, and combat systems engineering to aircraft carrier readiness, maintenance, modernization planning, and execution. This role integrates engineering, logistics, configuration management, and data-driven readiness analysis to support USS Nimitz (CVN-68), USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) class carriers, and future CVN platforms.
Key Responsibilities Engineering & Technical Leadership- Provide professional engineering support in marine electrical, electronic, and combat systems for aircraft carrier readiness, maintenance, and modernization efforts.
- Lead and support integrated modernization and repair work package planning, including Life Cycle Maintenance Plans (LCMPs), Availability Work Packages (AWPs), and Ship Change Documents (SCDs).
- Conduct engineering studies, design reviews, feasibility analyses, and technical evaluations supporting CVN maintenance, modernization, and operational readiness.
- Support development and review of Justification Cost Forms (JCFs), Ship Alteration (S/A) records, man-day estimates, and production cost analyses.
- Provide engineering input to Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) planning, modernization execution, and inactivation availability coordination efforts.
- Support CNAF CVN ROC readiness assessments across Combat Systems, HM&E, Logistics, Manning, Training, Weapons, and Habitability/Livability.
