Position: ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER with Security Clearance
Duties Help
* You will provide engineering expertise for the operation, maintenance, and design of equipment and facilities to support environmental programs.
* You will review technical work documents for compliance with Shipyard instructions and regulatory requirements.
* You will recommend corrective action for identified deficiencies.
* You will lead the development of permits, annual reports, inspection responses, and correspondence with regulatory agencies.
* You will provide support to other organizations to assist in planning or resolving compliance issues.
* You will coordinate inspections with regulatory agencies. Requirements Help Conditions of employment
* Must be a US Citizen.
* Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
* Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

* Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
* Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
* Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
* This is a bargaining unit position.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* You will be required to work onboard ships.
* You will be required to climb ladders and scaffolding. Qualifications GS-12:
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following as a professional engineer: managing environmental programs (e.g., Clean Water, Clean Air, Oil and Hazardous Substances/Spill Response, Industrial Wastewater, Hazardous Materials and Waste, Underground Storage Tanks, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures, etc.)

by developing, implementing, and advising on recommendations or solutions to modify standard practices or program directives, ensuring contractual obligations are met and compliance with environmental rules and regulations. GS-11:
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following as a professional engineer: researching and identifying environmental program deficiencies, to recommend and implement corrective action that provides control of hazardous waste facilities and engineering systems, ensuring solutions meet program objectives and contract obligations.
