With a record high backlog of boats to build, we are seeking a dedicated, passionate Marine Electrical Designer. You would be working closely with business development, sales, engineering, and production to ensure your designs meet the needs and missions of our customers and are designed for ease of manufacturing in mind. You will design and document AC and DC boat electrical systems and configure and document marine electronics systems for SAFE Boats products.
You will create and maintain CAD models and drawings to support the development and installation of these systems.
Develops and refines boat electrical and electronics systems under with direction from lead designers and engineers
Design layout of electrical and electronic components
Uses CAD software and established drafting standards to develop layouts, drawings, to support the installation and maintenance
Performs electrical load analysis
Performs voltage drop and wire size calculations
Incorporates marked up corrections from internal and external customers
Reviews and understands specifications
Reviews, audits and updates BOMs
Prepares shop drawings and work instructions
Supports production through direct interaction for Q&A and problem solving
Reads, interprets, and applies SAFE Boats, Department of Defense, MIL-SPEC, and regulatory standards and customer supplied documentation
Strong communication and technical skills with the ability to quickly grasp technical issues/concepts
Strong analytical and interpretative skills

Able to work well independently and on a team
Collaborative and innovative
Associate degree in electrical system design or equivalent work experience
Two years of marine electrical and electronics system installation and/or design experience
Two years of experience CAD design and drafting
Knowledge of ANSI drawing standards
Solid Edge experience a plus
ABYC (American Boating and Yachting Counsil) certifications preferred
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Must be able to sit for long periods of time
Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing
Listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
Bend, stoop, squat and stretch to complete tasks
Must be able to work at heights and/or confined spaces and lift up to 50 lbs.
