Job Title
The role involves supporting the overhaul and repair of U.S. Naval vessels through surface preparation and application of high performance preservation coating, for nuclear and non-nuclear naval vessels and equipment.
The duties include enhancing the structural integrity of the vessel, significantly reducing system failures or the need for ship repair and maintenance.
You will use drawings, specifications, technical manuals, engineering standards, and manufacturers' instructions to identify the location and assemble blast equipment in dry-docks, piers, and on vessels.
Ascertain the type and method for surface preparation, considering variables such as current surface profile; surface profile requirements; intended coating application; cleanliness; tolerances; and metal loss.
Use hand or mechanical means, such as scaling, sanding, scraping, chemical removal, and washing of metal, wood, and plastic surfaces for additional preparation to obtain required profiles.
Use deck blast machines to remove coatings and oxide from decks of ships.
Apply prior knowledge of materials for application on various surfaces including critical coated areas.
