Position: NUCLEAR ENGINEER with Security Clearance
Duties
* You will analyze, evaluate, and resolve conflicting confusing or inadequate operational design specification requirements.
* You will modify, extend or adapt existing engineering procedures and techniques to suit the specific requirements of the work.
* You will prepare engineering instructions for overhaul and repair of nuclear reactor plant piping systems and mechanical components.
* You will identify material requirements, quality levels, and inspection requirements.
* You will provide guidance to Supply, Planning and Estimating for ordering and procurement of materials used in the fabrication of nuclear reactor plant piping systems and the overhaul of mechanical equipment.
* You will prepare engineering technical and administrative instructions for review and approval by Supervisor for Nuclear Power Manual Chapters, Inspection Procedures and Memoranda.
* You will provide Shipyard recommendations and technical justifications to prime contractors of lead yards, resolves equipment, procedure or drawing problems and submits improvements for final review or approval.

* Must have received a Fully Successful or higher performance rating on last performance cycle.

* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding.
* This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
* This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to work onboard ships.
* This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to climb stairs, ladders, bend, crouch and perform a considerable amount of walking.
* This position requires occasional lifting and moving of moderate to heavy loads of documents. Qualifications You are eligible for this training opportunity if you are currently a permanent ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN GS-0802-12 within UIC (4523A) Org Code (2300).
