Nuclear Facilities Engineer

Duties

• You will coordinate efforts related to the development, improvement, and modernization of nuclear facilities and plant equipment.
• You will coordinate the development and implementation of a future state for facilities and plant equipment which support naval nuclear work with other Shipyard departments.
• You will support the Nuclear Facilities and Equipment Manager in the management and direction of the overall nuclear facilities and equipment programs required for the support of nuclear production effort
• You will take action with other shipyard nuclear managers and department heads, to ensure the overall coordinated, effective and safe execution of nuclear work.
• You will ensure adequate planning, scheduling and manpower resources are provided for construction, manufacture, preparation, maintenance repair and installation of facilities.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Moderate physical activity is required including walking, bending or stooping during the inspection of systems, standing for long periods while observing operations, or climbing vertical ladders and walking on uneven surfaces.

Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: serving as a professional engineer developing and coordinating facilities and plant equipment engineering projects and providing technical direction for improvement and modernization of nuclear facilities.
