Pharmacy Technician – Naval Hospital Bremerton, WA Overview
About the Position. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Naval Hospital Bremerton (NHB) is a US Navy Hospital located on Naval Station Bremerton in Bremerton, WA, located 30 minutes from Tacoma and 45-60 minutes from Seattle. NH Bremerton is situated in a key location along Interstate 5, allowing easy access to Sea‑Tac Airport and the deep‑water ports of Tacoma and Seattle. The natural setting of the base has remained unchanged – Majestic Mount Rainier looms on the horizon, towering over the other peaks of the Cascade Range.

- Receive and review prescriptions, using knowledge of general principles of pharmaceutical practices.
- Determine type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed in accordance with accepted practice and pharmacy standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.
- Attend the dispensing window for pick up.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Conditions of Employment- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre‑employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- This position requires the completion of a pre‑employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- Immunization screening will be required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 15 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience;
if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
