Morrow Health) - Collaborative, Supportive Team Environment
Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is hiring a Housing Support Specialist to join our Pendleton Place team. Pendleton Place is a supportive housing program designed to help individuals with severe and persistent mental illness maintain community tenure, build recovery skills, and work toward more independent living. The Housing Support Specialist empowers residents by teaching and modeling daily living skills, supporting housing stability, and fostering independence while ensuring a safe and therapeutic living environment.
Primary Responsibilities:- Create a therapeutic environment in alignment with supportive housing program standards and goals.
- Build positive, professional relationships with residents to support recovery and independence.
- Conduct Foundational Community Supports assessments, collect documentation, and establish client-centered housing goals.
- Support the implementation of the Permanent Supportive Housing Fidelity model.
- Teach and model skills in areas such as cooking, cleaning, money management, symptom management, and social interaction.
- Provide structure and support, including scheduling, shopping, and side-by-side coaching on household tasks.
- Encourage, monitor, and assist with progress toward housing goals.
- Communicate with clinical teams, Crisis Response, and housing staff regarding client needs, risk factors, and progress.
- Provide early intervention when behaviors may jeopardize housing stability.
- Take appropriate action when clients are missing, ill, injured, or psychiatrically impaired.
- Report and document incidents, emergencies, or changes in client status.
- Support transitional planning for residents preparing for more independent housing.
- Observe, document, and support medication monitoring for residents as assigned.
- Participate as a collaborative team member and maintain positive working relationships with KMHS staff across departments.
- Provide backup coverage in other programs as needed when schedule allows.
- Document all services thoroughly and submit within required timelines according to KMHS policy and WAC standards.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field OR Four or more years' relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency. Therefore, the incumbent must meet all agency driving requirements, including being at least 21 years old, having been licensed for a minimum of three years, successfully completing a motor vehicle history check, possessing and maintaining a current, valid driver’s license in the state of Washington, and having reliable, insured transportation.
LICENSURE:
Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.
Experience in co-occurring disorders treatment, individual and group therapy, vocational services, or substance abuse treatment.
