The Corporate Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice to PCHS and its officers and employees on a broad range of matters including labor and employment, privacy, real estate, housing, intellectual property, and healthcare compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret contracts, agreements, organizational policies, internal forms, and other legal documents
- Provide timely legal advice and guidance to leadership and staff on matters including corporate governance, contracts, employment law, health law, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, organizational risk, and litigation strategy
- Advise on state and federal healthcare laws and regulations issues including HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, federal False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, and Medicare and Medicaid requirements
- Monitor changes in applicable laws and regulations and recommend operational or policy changes as needed.
- Conduct internal investigations as needed and recommend corrective actions
- Support litigation by coordinating with outside counsel, managing discovery, and assisting with case strategy
- Assist with real estate transactions, leasing, property acquisition, and housing initiatives
- Support the ongoing operation of PCHS's Legal Services Program
- Exercise independent judgement and discretion in evaluating legal issues, advising leadership, and managing assigned projects
- Proficiency in Westlaw, navigating the Washington Administrative Code, Revised Code of Washington, and Code of Federal Regulations
- Other duties as assigned
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications- Active license to practice law in Washington State (Required)
- 1-2 years' experience with health law (Preferred)
- Two to five years of customer service experience (Preferred)

For pay equity purposes, PCHS calculates salaries based on a wage scale that incorporates a standardized approach to compensation. Accordingly, PCHS does not engage in salary negotiations for non-provider staff.
Compensation:
Starting at $42.42 - $58.72

The employee is required to talk, hear, see, smell, sit and stand. The employee is frequently required to move around the facility; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
