What You Will Do- Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment.
- Performs maintenance and technical support on equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and field locations; analyzes and evaluates product performance.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problems quickly; installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring compliance with engineering field changes.
- Maintains effective customer communications and relations.
- Provides onsite training of customer support personnel.
- Applies understanding of production and processes to assignments; performs a variety of complicated tasks.
- Assists in the development and use of technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
- Performs duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignments.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance.
- Must have experience troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions to eliminate problems quickly.
- Must be able to work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts or work orders as well as written and verbal instruction.
- High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 2 years of related experience.
- Must provide own hand tools as designated per trade specialty.
- Prefer candidates with an active Secret clearance.
- Shipyard Competent Person (SCP) certification is preferred.
- Prior AIT or active-duty military experience on current active class ships is preferred.
- Prefer candidates with at least 4 - 8 years of experience.
- Experience in large NIWC/SPAWAR integrated installation contracts is preferred.
- Experience in Shore C4I is preferred.
- Prefer technical/professional certifications.
- Prior Quality Assurance certifications are preferred.
- Candidates possessing a current U.S. Travel passport are preferred.
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes; exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
