Environmental Health & Safety; EHS Inspector

Position: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Inspector
Individual experienced in the shipyard industry with a discipline in environmental, health and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Perform evaluation and testing in various environments including but not limited to noise, illumination, atmospheric conditions (confined spaces), ensuring proper working environments are established and maintained

* Work with the Project Team to identify and eliminate potential hazards

* Evaluates and coordinates the requirement for Marine Chemist required inspections

* Maintain records on inspections and tests

* Evaluate and document EH&S conditions on one or more projects through daily inspections

* Ensure all hazardous material documentation is submitted and maintained on one or more projects

* Coordinate hazardous waste disposal with facilities

* Provide training to small groups

Actively participates in EH&S audits (internal and external)

Qualifications

* Minimum of 5 years of experience in the shipyard industry

24 Hour and 8 Hour Shipyard Competent Person training

* Possess thorough understanding of the EH&S requirements within the ship repair, in particular, the US Navy

* Must be authorized to work in the USA

* Must be able to access government installations

* Must be able to walk at least 2 miles daily, crawl in tight spaces, and climb ladders and stairs without restriction

* Must be able to lift 50 pounds above head

* Must pass an occupational physical, drug screen and respirator medical authorization test

* Must be able to work any assigned shift and ability to work assigned overtime

* OSHA 10 - Maritime, willingness to obtain through company-paid training
