Position: Trades Helper (Active Secret Clearance Needed) - Immediate Hiring

Marine Trades Helper

The Marine Trades Helper supports skilled trades professionals in a shipyard and shop environment by assisting with installation, fabrication, and maintenance tasks on marine and industrial systems. This role requires an active secret security clearance, the ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications, and a strong desire to learn and grow into more advanced marine trade positions.

Responsibilities
  • Assist marine trades personnel with installation, maintenance, and repair tasks in a shipyard and shop environment.
  • Read, interpret, and apply drawings and specifications to determine installation requirements under guidance.
  • Use basic hand and power tools safely and correctly to support marine, electrical, and industrial work.
  • Support tasks related to electrical wiring, conduit installation, and other marine electrical activities as directed.
  • Assist with shipyard activities such as lagging, basic fabrication, and preparation work for welding and other trades.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store tools and equipment after use.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and follow instructions from experienced tradespeople and supervisors.
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to take on new tasks and responsibilities.
  • Participate in on-the-job training to develop skills that can lead to roles such as welding, pipe fitting, or other marine trades positions.
Essential Skills
  • Active secret security clearance.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply drawings and specifications to determine installation requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of how to use hand tools and power tools safely.
  • Ability to work in a shipyard and shop environment around marine and industrial equipment.
  • Strong desire and aptitude to learn new skills and develop in marine trades.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and wearing required PPE at all times.
  • Dependable work ethic with consistent attendance and punctuality.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in a shipyard, marine, or industrial environment is helpful but not required.
  • Exposure to or interest in marine systems such as electrical, wiring, conduit, sonar, welding, or fabrication.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team supporting trades assistants and technicians.
  • Willingness to cross-train in areas such as welding, pipe fitting, and other marine trades.
  • Comfort working around industrial equipment and tools in a busy production setting.

Environment

This role is based in a shipyard and shop environment working around marine, electrical, and industrial systems. You will regularly use and be around hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment. Work is performed in an active industrial setting where you may encounter noise, varying temperatures, and physical tasks such as standing, walking, and handling materials throughout the shift.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
