Position: SMALL CRAFT OPERATOR with Security Clearance
Duties
* You will interpret navigational charts to select a safe course for a trip.
* You will conduct fire, life raft, or man overboard drills to maintain small craft operating crew proficiency.
* You will follow established practices and maritime laws to provide continuously reliable and safe operation of small craft.
* You will report major repairs for corrective action on small craft. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
* Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* This is a bargaining unit position.
* Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* The incumbent will be subject to working odd or rotating shifts and weekend.
* The incumbent may be required to apply for and obtain a forklift license up to 3 to 7.5 ton (6000 lb to 15,000 lb capacity).
* Incumbent shall respond to radiological emergencies and perform radiological emergency drills.
* Callback overtime is a requirement for this position.
* Employee shall be required to become Facility Response Team (FRT) and HSIRM qualified.
* Must complete Job Qualification Requirements (JOR) and Personal Qualification Standards requirements (POS) as assigned by the Installation Program Director. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible.

The Screen-out Element for this position is:
1) Operating and navigating a small craft through traffic;
2) Maintaining the craft using prescribed maintenance plan;
3) Performing routine maintenance around the craft;
4) Providing assistance to the Ship's Pilots. Dock master, and pier master in the moving docking, and undocking of waterborne craft and ships. (

The incumbent will be required to attend CNIC Shore Installation Management Basic Boat Coxswain (SIMBBC) course as a boat crew member and complete the Personal Qualification Standards for SIMBBC. Must qualify as 2 nd class swimmer or BST prior to taking this course. PHYSICAL EFFORT:
The incumbent may be required to lift, carry, or pull up to 44 pounds while on underway craft. The incumbent must be able to climb vertical ladder, stairs, and endure prolonged standing, kneeling, bending, pulling, reaching, and must have good hand/finger dexterity.
