Position Summary

Under the direction of the Shipping Supervisor and/or Lead, the Shipper

B will be responsible for the complete process of loading all products safely and accurately according to Valmont policies, procedures, and work instructions.

Standard Shift

Schedule:

Evenings (2nd shift) Monday‑Friday 3pm‑11pm. Starting hourly pay rate (LG4): $20.34+$1.00 for shift differential. Opportunity for step pay increases at 90days, 1year, and 2years. Eligible for annual discretionary bonus.

Essential Functions
  • Identify material being loaded or unloaded by part number, description, quantity, and quality.
  • Gather customer orders and stage by stop schedule on the consolidation card, and update the consolidation cards for shortages.
  • Handle the workload coming from all assembly and finishing areas.
  • Utilize the IFS system for completing transactions on all finished goods from the stated areas.
  • Use ship papers to identify product to be loaded as required.
  • Stage product for loading and identify product using identification markers.
  • Transport product to staging area using straddle truck and forklift.
  • Operate overhead crane to lift and move pole product from bolsters to bolsters.
  • Operate forklift and straddle buggies to transport product from inventory location to shipping bay to be consolidated.
  • Perform general housekeeping, which includes sweeping, painting, operating powered sweeper, and mopping.
  • Exercise a keen sense of awareness when moving product to dispose of wood dunnage with exposed edges to avoid tripping hazards.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment and be willing to work on solutions to problems.
  • Bolster product that goes back to the yard or to the internal customer as specified by the general guidelines posted.
  • Communicate with the next shipper

    B to ensure proper loading of each consolidation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Use computer software: MS Office, Outlook, Excel, IFS, TMS.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to perform basic math: add, subtract, decimals, and fractions.
  • Minimum of six months previous experience operating heavy equipment in a professional environment.
  • Proficiency in operating a straddle truck and a shag truck.
  • Knowledge of computer systems.
Highly Qualified Candidates
  • At least one year of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • At least one year of experience operating heavy equipment.
  • At least one year of experience operating an overhead crane.
  • At least one year of experience utilizing the IFS system.
  • Passion, integrity, drive to excel, and deliver exceptional results.
Physical Requirements
  • Exposure to production facilities requiring hand, hearing, foot, eye, and head protection.
  • Exposure to outside elements for extended periods.
  • Ability to handle material handling equipment such as forklifts, straddle trucks, and shag trucks.
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort, lifting 35 to 50lbs approximately 80‑90% of the time.
  • Standing, bending, or walking required 85% of the time.
  • Ability to climb and lift in unusual positions; climbing up to 8ft off the ground.
  • Ability to push and pull carts in close quarters; maximum lift of 50lbs.
