Forklift Operator, Material Handler

Job SummaryThe Material Handler works under the direction of the Departmental Supervisor/Lead Person and is responsible for the complete process of loading all products safely and accurately according to company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Standard Shift: 2nd shift (Evenings) – Monday to Friday, 3:00PM – 11:00PM.
There may be work hours required outside the standard shift.
Compensation: Starting hourly pay $20.34 + $1.00 per hour shift differential. Eligible for annual discretionary bonus and step pay increases at 90 days, 1 year, and 2 years.
Core Responsibilities- Identify material being loaded or unloaded by part number, description, quantity, and quality.
- Gather customer orders and stage by stop schedule on the consolidation card, updating the card for shortages.
- Complete all computer transactions using the MRP system for finished goods from production areas.
- Use ship papers and CDR load sheets to identify products for loading.
- Transport product to the staging area using a straddle truck and forklift.
- Operate overhead cranes to lift/move pole products from bolsters to bolsters.
- Perform general housekeeping: sweeping, painting, operating powered sweeper, and mopping.
- Maintain awareness to prevent tripping hazards by disposing of wood dunnage with exposed products.
- Assist in loading trailers when needed.
- Execute other duties as assigned.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- IFS
- TMS
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Read and write English.
- Use common manufacturing math.
- Minimum 6 months of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 6 months of experience operating heavy equipment.
- Minimum 6 months of experience using a computer inventory control system.
- Previous forklift operating experience.
- Previous overhead crane experience.
- Previous experience operating a straddle truck and specialized shag truck (terminal tractor, yard truck for shipping and receiving).
- At least 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment.
- At least 1 year of experience using the IFS system to track work orders.
- Ability to accurately and honestly check one's own work for quality assurance.
- A person of passion, integrity, and a drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
- PPE required: hand, hearing, foot, eye, and head protection.
- Exposure to outdoor elements and material handling equipment (forklifts, straddle trucks, shag trucks).
- Physical effort is moderate to heavy: lifting 35–50lbs 80–90% of the time.
- Standing, bending, or walking required 85% of the time.
- Employees may need to climb up to 8ft. and lift in unusual positions.
- Maximum lift limit is 50lbs.
