Job Title: RN Supervisor
Shift/Status: Full Time, 40 hrs/wk
Emergency Department SpecificsPatient Population: Diverse population including pediatric and adult patients with acute and often complex emergencies.
# of Beds: 15
Patient Ratios: 1:4
ResponsibilitiesThe Supervisor, Nursing Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for supervising assigned nursing and unit-based personnel to provide a safe, caring environment for patients, family, and staff. This includes:
- Overseeing day‑to‑day operations and productivity, and assisting the Nursing Manager in planning, implementing, and evaluating policies, procedures, budgets, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Coordinating and leading inter‑professional teamwork, ensuring evidence‑based practice and quality care.
- Ensuring staff competency and ongoing professional development through mentorship, training, and performance management.
- Managing staffing, resources, and equipment to optimize patient care, throughput, and cost‑effectiveness.
- Responding to critical incidents, sentinel events, and system redesign opportunities to promote a culture of safety.
- Representing nursing staff in committees and special projects to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
- Performing in the capacity of the Nursing Manager when required and completing special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Strong knowledge of nursing and patient care standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the ED.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to provide patient‑centered care with sensitivity to diversity.
- Competence in operational decision making, resource allocation, and policy evaluation.
- Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office, EMR, scheduling, payroll, and email.

- Education: Associate's degree in Nursing.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN.
- Certification/License: Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer.
