Overview

The Electromechanical Technician 13 performs highly skilled technical work in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment. Responsibilities include new installations of equipment, major repairs and replacements. Technicians help perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair of plant production equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Service and maintain cranes, lathes, drills, presses, press brakes, shears, robots, tube mills, high frequency induction equipment, distribution equipment, CNC and NC equipment
  • Diagnose, test, disassemble, inspect, precisely measure, repair and re-assemble plant equipment or components with limited instruction
  • Perform pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical troubleshooting and repair of plant production equipment as needed
  • Install distribution equipment including gutters, disconnects, conduits and cables following UL and National Electrical Code
  • Install and repair lighting up to 480V; assist with repair of welders, wire feeds, plasma cutters, and motors over 110V
  • Use troubleshooting tools (e.g., digital VOM) to interpret readings
  • Record labor and materials and report abnormal conditions and safety hazards
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area and perform general housekeeping tasks
  • May assist newer co-workers and technicians in lower level tiers with various tasks
  • Operate hoists and forklifts safely and efficiently
  • Other duties as needed or assigned
Qualifications

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to climb and work at elevated heights up to eighty feet
  • Ability to work over ten hours a week in overtime when required
  • One year of experience maintaining industrial equipment
  • One year of experience using industrial lifting equipment, cranes or hoists
  • One year of experience using troubleshooting aids (thermography gun, digital VOM, volt, ohm or amp meters)
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, blueprints and National Electrical Code books for AC & DC systems
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic and pneumatic valves and prints
  • Mechanical skills to fabricate electrical panels, cut and bend conduit, install equipment, pull wires, etc.
  • Working knowledge of using Outlook email
  • Math skills to compute power, current, voltage, resistance, etc.
  • Experience operating a forklift
  • Experience welding and fabricating
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision
  • Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical troubleshooting
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience; technical school or apprenticeship in Electrical Maintenance
  • Knowledge of industrial components (disconnects, motor starters, relays, contractors, motors, transformers, switches, circuit protection, solenoids, etc.)
  • Understanding of welders and repair of rectifiers and SCRs
Working Environment And Physical Efforts

Most work is performed in an indoor shop environment with varying temperatures. Some areas can be noisy; hearing protection and safety gear are required. The role involves standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lb, climbing ladders, wiring, and working in confined or awkward positions. Some outdoor work in extreme temperatures is possible, and the Electromechanical Technician works in disagreeable weather conditions nearly 30% of the year.
