Position: Field Service Technician I, II, III (Giddings, Brenham, or College Station, TX)

Field Service Technician I, II, III (Giddings, Brenham, or College Station, TX) Position Summary

Reporting to the Field Service Supervisor, the Field Service Technician provides major maintenance and repairs on natural gas compression rental fleet equipment within the assigned region. The role partners with manufacturing and field service teams to satisfy customer needs by addressing mechanical and electrical issues during installations, maintenance cycles and repairs as needed. The technician champions service excellence, safety policies and standards, and drives continuous improvement.

Field levels are based on applicants’ years of experience and expertise.

Schedule & On‑Call

Standard:
Monday‑Friday. Overtime: regularly available; average 50+ hours per week. Required on‑call rotation: 24/7 availability for emergencies. Weekend work: occasional planned maintenance or emergency/on‑call coverage.

Essential Job Functions
  • Champion and enforce all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and initiatives.
  • Perform skilled tasks including all levels of maintenance, repairs, and overhauls as directed.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose all levels of natural gas compressor system failures.
  • Optimize compression equipment performance.
  • Stay abreast of advanced natural gas compressor and engine theory and maintenance.
  • Comply with all company and customer safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all other company policies and procedures.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork as directed.
  • Perform duties as trainer when required.
  • Continually hone and develop electronic and computer skills.
  • Demonstrate and further develop leadership skills.
  • Present a professional image.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Employment for this role is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre‑employment background check, drug screening, and MVR check in accordance with company policy and applicable laws, and requires a DOT physical.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a shop mechanic or field service technician.
  • General mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas industry, including gas compression sector.
  • High school diploma (or GED equivalent).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with teams, vendors, and personnel.
  • Positive, “can‑do” attitude with strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.
  • Effective time‑management skills and demonstrated ethical behavior.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Standing, walking, bending, and working on your feet for extended periods (up to 10 hours per shift).
  • Frequent physical labor, including lifting and carrying heavy items up to 50 pounds.
  • Performing physical activities requiring use of arms, legs, and full‑body movement such as uneven surfaces, stand/sit long periods, bending, stooping, hard surfaces, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Having sufficient visual acuity to read diagrams, identify wire markings, measure components, and inspect assemblies for quality and accuracy.
  • Wearing required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel‑toed boots.
  • Regular travel to and from field locations, often in varied and sometimes inclement weather conditions.
