Position: MAINTENANCE MECHANIC with Security Clearance
Duties - Independently applies skilled methods, techniques, and advanced shop mathematics to construct, install, repair, and modify a wide variety of structures.

- Modifies and reworks mechanical, electronic, and magnetic locking devices to accomplish special security objectives designed to work in conjunction with other components and equipment to form a complete security or surveillance system.

- Independently applies skilled methods, techniques, and advanced shop mathematics to construct, install, repair, and modify a wide variety of structures.

- Administers "offline" information systems. Monitors ongoing operation of offline database systems to ensure hardware and software are functioning properly and that operational standards are met.

- Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Uses and maintains tools and equipment. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Shift work may be required.
* Will be required to train/guide lower graded (or other trades) military/civilian employees.
* May be required to be certified for working with and/or removing hazardous material.
* The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
* Emergency overtime may be required.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4700 GENERAL MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS WORK GROUP. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS:
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
* Knowledge of carpentry and locksmith work methods and techniques; and database management techniques when installing/repairing electronic locking mechanisms.
* Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures and environmental standards and requirements; and regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation.
* Knowledge of advanced shop mathematics to plan, compute, and lay out more complex projects.
* Skill in cutting and shaping to complete comers; constructing, installing, repairing, and modifying structures; formulating plans and templates involving straight and curved edges or irregular curves, angles, and planes; developing patterns to include geometric projection and triangulation; setting-up, operating, and maintaining a variety of precision equipment and power and hand tools/equipment; and fabricating complex items from a variety of…
