About the Position

Premier Metal Buyers, a proud member of Brannon Industrial Group (BIG), is seeking an experienced Diesel Truck & Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Brenham, Texas.

This position is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining company-owned trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. The ideal candidate is a self‑motivated problem solver with strong diesel and hydraulic experience who takes pride in delivering quality repairs and keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Do
  • Diagnostics & Repairs
  • Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues on Class 8 trucks, roll‑off trucks, heavy equipment, material handlers, loaders, excavators, support vehicles and trailers.
  • Repair and replace components including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, air brake systems, HVAC systems, drivetrain components, suspension and steering systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service work.
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Inspect components to maximize reuse and help control repair costs.
  • Equipment Maintenance
  • Perform repairs in both shop and field environments as needed.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation.
  • Communicate repair progress, parts needs, and projected completion timelines with management.
  • Support operational uptime by prioritizing repairs and minimizing equipment downtime.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with operators, drivers, and management.
  • Contribute to a professional, respectful, and team‑oriented workplace culture.
What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience diagnosing and repairing diesel trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Strong understanding of diesel engines and related systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, air brake, and drivetrain systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to supply your own tools.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Class B CDL.
  • Experience working in scrap recycling, construction, transportation, or industrial environments.
  • OEM certifications or technical training.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift up to 75 pounds when necessary.
  • Work in shop and outdoor environments.
  • Climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and work in confined spaces.
  • Work around heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Perform repairs in varying weather conditions when field service is required.
