Purpose and Scope of the Role

You will install, commission and maintain sewer depth monitors, flow‑survey sensors and associated telemetry across the local wastewater network. Working in permanent two‑person teams, you will complete site assessments, routine calibrations, fault diagnosis and digital job‑sheet reporting.

Training is provided; health and safety and confined‑space procedures are integral to daily operations.

Your Impact in This Position

In the short term you will deliver reliable installations and accurate survey data that support operational decision‑making. Over the medium term you will develop technical troubleshooting, telemetry and commissioning skills, taking responsibility for increasingly complex sites. Longer term the role offers career progression into team leadership, field supervision or instrumentation and telemetry specialist roles within Tetra Tech, with access to formal training and on‑the‑job development.

Capabilities Required for Success
  • Technical installation and maintenance – Proven ability to install, configure and maintain sensor and telemetry equipment; carry out calibrations and routine checks to meet project targets.
  • Health, safety and confined‑space competence – Strong awareness of site safety, safe systems of work and confined‑space protocols; able to perform risk assessments and work safely with manhole covers and at height.
  • Fault diagnosis and problem solving – Ability to identify and resolve issues with sensors, telemetry and power supplies on site, escalating complex faults to engineers or project managers.
  • Communication and reporting – Clear verbal and written skills to complete digital job sheets, communicate with project teams and liaise professionally with clients.
  • Physical resilience and teamwork – Physically fit and willing to work outdoors in all weather; works effectively in a two‑person team to meet deadlines and project objectives.
Qualifications and Training

Expected: full manual driving licence; basic IT literacy; demonstrable experience or interest in wastewater, utilities or field instrumentation. Training in telemetry, confined‑space entry and specific equipment will be provided.

Desirable: confined‑space certification, previous flow‑survey experience and basic electrical or telemetry training.

Work Patterns & Location

This is a 40‑hour, Monday‑Friday role based in Brentford with occasional night shifts and periods away as project needs dictate. Expect primarily on‑site work; office or admin days are occasional for reporting and team meetings.
