Part-time Children's Center Associate Teacher

Part-time afternoons, Monday - Friday 12:30pm - 5:30pm, mid August- mid June.

Wage: $22.00/ hour

Assists and supports the classroom teachers in creating a warm andcaring environment for young children.

• Models, articulates, and encourages cooperative behavior amongthe children.
• Interacts with children in a warm, nurturing way while providing an appropriate adult role model.
• Supports the teaching team and the childcare center activities in a timely, caring and professional manner.
• Supervises all activities indoors and out in order to ensurethe safety and the well-being of each child.
• Resolves problems or concerns that may arise with children orparents in conjunction with the teachers and Director.
• Assists in the maintenance of equipment and materials and ensures the cleanliness and orderliness of the classroom and common areas.
• Changes diapers and clothing following center protocol.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Minimum of nine credits in early childhood education/development, twelve credits preferred, including at leastone three-credit course in child growth and development from an accredited college preferred.
• Must have CPR and First Aid training or be willing to getcertification.

• Experience with infants, toddlers, and pre-school andkindergarten age children required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
  
  Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
• Experience in an institutional or campus setting

• Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work andwill require the ability to remain standing for extended periods oftime, go up and down flights of steps, lift children in carriers and push/pull heavy strollers and wagons as well as stoop, kneel,and crouch.
• Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs without assistance.
