LOCATION OF (1) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services, Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute, Davidson County.

This is an on-site position.

This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position.

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to two years of full‑time professional work in one or a combination of the following:

• Academic teaching
• Educational administration
• Development of instructional materials for academic programs
• Training

Substitution of Education for

Experience:

Additional graduate coursework in one or a combination of the following may be substituted for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis, to a maximum of two years:

• Human Resources Management
• Industrial/Organizational Psychology
• Any field related to the design or evaluation of curriculum and related instructional processes (e.g., Curriculum and Instruction, Educational/Instructional Media Design, Educational Evaluation, Research, and Statistics)

Substitution of Experience for

Education:

Any teaching or training experience, or any remaining professional experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year‑for‑year basis, to a maximum of four years.

Substitution for Specialized

Experience:

Four years of full‑time professional work in the subject matter of instruction may be substituted for the two years of specialized experience.

Applicant must successfully become certified as a facilitator by the Department of Human Resources within six months of hire.

Alternative

Qualification:

One year of professional experience in delivering workforce training with the State of Tennessee.

• Complete a criminal history disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority.
• Agree to release all records involving their criminal history to the appointing authority.
• Supply a fingerprint sample prescribed by the TBI for criminal history records check.

• Be willing to and able to qualify with, carry, and use assigned weapons.
• Be eligible to receive and maintain a security clearance in accordance with applicable agency regulations.
• Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Be a citizen of the United States.
• Have a good moral character, as determined by investigation.
• Complete a criminal history disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority.
• Agree to release all records involving their criminal history to the appointing authority.
• Supply a fingerprint sample prescribed by the TBI for criminal history records check.
• Not have been convicted or pleaded guilty to nor entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor, or controlled substances, Tennessee Code Annotated 7-86-205.
• Not have been discharged under any unconditional honorable conditions from any branch of the United States armed forces.
• Pass a physical examination administered by a licensed physician that is consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act and that relates to the essential functions of the position.
• Pass a psychological evaluation administered by a licensed mental health professional that is consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act and that relates to the essential functions of the position.
• Upon appointment, successfully complete a prescribed course of instruction.
