Job DescriptionWe are seeking an Associate Engineer for our Nashville, TN office. In this role, you will be a key member of our accident reconstruction team, providing expert consulting services to clients within the legal, insurance, and transportation industries.
This role offers a blend of fieldwork and in-office analysis. Fieldwork involves the use of advanced technologies, such as 3D laser scanning, drones, and camera equipment, to accurately document accident sites and vehicles. In the office, you will analyze vehicle speed, damage, impact forces, driver reaction times, and video footage, and create precise accident reconstructions.
Ideal candidates demonstrate strong communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, high mechanical aptitude, and a proactive commitment to science-based accident reconstruction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Field Investigation & Evidence Collection- Perform on-site inspections, vehicle assessments, and rapid-response investigations
- Capture and document physical evidence using advanced tools, including 3D laser scanning, drones, and digital photography
- Preserve scene and vehicle conditions through accurate documentation before environmental changes
- Apply engineering principles to analyze vehicle motion, damage patterns, impact forces, and driver response
- Use specialized software tools including CAD, photogrammetry, collision simulation, laser scanning platforms, and vehicle event data recorder (EDR) analysis
- Support planning and execution of engineering analyses under guidance of senior engineers
- Prepare clear, technically accurate written materials for engineering reports
- Assist with the development of visual exhibits and reconstruction models
- Present technical findings to internal team members and external audiences with varying levels of technical expertise
- Support multiple projects with competing deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, client engagement staff, and operations partners
- Demonstrate professionalism and accountability in all client-facing and internal interactions
- Engineering fundamentals relevant to motor vehicle crash analysis
- Vehicle dynamics, automotive systems, and mechanical principles
- Interest in or exposure to advanced driver‑assist systems, autonomous vehicle technologies, and vehicle data networks
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Technical writing and documentation skills
- Ability to present technical information clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences
- Proficiency in 3D modeling and engineering software tools
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in both field and office environments
- Ability to manage regional travel requirements (approx. 50%)
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-based environment
- Ability and desire to learn new tools, technologies, and analytical methods
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline required
- Master’s degree candidates preferred
- Academic or applied experience in technical research, analysis, or engineering projects preferred
- Combination of office-based analysis and field investigation work
- Approximately 50% regional travel required

The base salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $75,000, depending on prior experience and expertise.
