Pay
  • Certified FFII with 2+ years of paid structural firefighting experience:
    • Firefighter EMT: $59,993
    • Firefighter AEMT: $62,993
    • Firefighter Paramedic: $66,493
  • Firefighter Recruit:
    • EMT: $55,526
    • AEMT: $58,526
    • Paramedic: $62,026
  • 5% salary increase after successful completion of the 12‑month probationary period.
  • Transportation supplement of $500 per year paid over 26 pay periods annually.
  • Educational pay incentive available for undergraduate coursework that exceeds minimum requirements.
Testing

Testing Date:
Monday, March 16, 2026.

Optional Physical Testing:
Sunday, March 15, 2026.

Overview

The City of Brentwood is now accepting applications for Firefighters to join our team in the Brentwood Fire & Rescue Department. The city is located in scenic Williamson County and is known for its strong business community, quality schools, recreational activities, and high standard of living. It sits just south of Nashville and has a population of approximately 46,000 residents. Brentwood Fire & Rescue serves the community from five strategically located fire stations around the city.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency calls for fire, medical, and other emergency situations.
  • Remove individuals from dangerous or hazardous situations.
  • Perform all activities necessary to suppress or extinguish fires.
  • Assess emergency medical problems and perform prescribed treatment under Tennessee Emergency Medical Responder guidelines.
  • Perform code enforcement, pre‑fire surveys, building inspections; issue burn permits; maintain hydrants; provide fire safety education to the public; conduct tours of fire station facilities.

Minimum Training and Experience Required
  • 21+ years of age.
  • Sixty credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university, OR thirty credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university plus two years paid structural firefighting experience.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines, tools and equipment which includes a motor vehicle, computer, generator, fire pump, fire hydrant, axe, shovel, hydraulic tools, power tools, hand tools, medical equipment, etc. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert in excess of one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of fifty pounds of force frequently.

Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for very heavy work.
