Talent Manager
Overall Job Summary
This position is responsible for full recruiting, including screening and interviewing candidates for Store Operations management positions. These positions include Managers in Training and Assistant Managers. The role supports Tractor Supply Company’s strategic initiative “Developing Talent” by implementing best practices in recruiting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)- Present qualified candidates with the required competencies, skills, and backgrounds for Store Operations management including Managers in Training and Assistant Managers.
- Screen incoming resumes, conduct resume database searches, and utilize other sourcing techniques such as cold calling, social networking and referrals to identify potential candidates.
- Conduct initial phone interview with candidates.
- Consult with various hiring managers to provide a qualified pool of candidates.
- Counsel the hiring manager(s) on hiring decisions and compensation, and report on updated information during one‑on‑one phone and regional conference calls.
- Utilize the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to post new requisitions and collect data on candidates including pre‑hire documentation, background checks, references, etc.
- Support other TSC recruiting and staffing efforts as necessary, including diversity initiatives.
- Market and represent TSC to potential candidates by explaining the culture, mission, values, and career opportunities.
- Assist store management in designing and implementing creative, efficient, and cost‑effective methods of recruiting talent for hourly positions in the local area.
- Support ongoing training and education efforts of the recruiting function by participating in various classes including Management Skills, New Store Opening, and Leadership II, and conduct training for Store Leadership on Hiring Hard practices.
- Conduct orientation with newly assigned Managers.
- Assist HRBP with analysis and improvement of onboarding and NHO practices and procedures.
- Assist HRBP with 30‑ and 90‑day follow‑up calls with new MITs, recommending solutions and improvements to the new hire process.
- Participate in Regional Quarterly Succession Planning discussions to help build a pipeline and bench of talent for key positions.
Experience
: 2‑4 years of related recruiting experience.
Education
:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field is preferred. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of an Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Detail‑oriented approach to work.
- Ability to manage conflict.
